Getting there by Plane:
Villa Santa Maria is approximately one hour drive by car from Faro Airport. You can fly direct to Faro from as little as £15 plus tax from many airports in the UK & Ireland including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Cork, Dublin, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exeter, Gatwick, Glasgow International, Leeds, Liverpool, Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, Shannon and Stansted.
Car Hire:
The easiest and most convenient way to get around the Algarve is by car, which you can hire for as little as £7 per day from some car rental companies. Book in advance online. It is advisable to book your car before flying.
Driving in the Algarve:
The road system in the Algarve is generally very good, though the main routes are busy in summer and many back roads are no more than dirt tracks.
The speed limit is 50 kmh (35mph) through towns and villages, 90 kmh (60 mph) on A-roads outside built-up areas and 120 kmh (80 mph) on the motorway.
Safety belts (front and back) are compulsory, and children under 12 are not allowed to ride in the front.
Always carry some means of identification with you and have car documents to hand when driving. Failure to produce identification if stopped by the police may result in a hefty fine, even if you are blameless in all other respects.
